Hot days are creeping up and I’m in the mood for smoothies!! I try to monitor the amount of fruit I eat, especially when there is an abundance of amazing seasonal fruits available now. Green herbs are also in season and I love a good yogurt drink, especially when it’s homemade from grass-fed raw milk (recipe here).
The homemade yogurt makes this an amazing powerful probiotic (since I leave it 24 hours to ferment). The herbs add the touch of a digestive aid and beautiful flavor!
To make this wonderfully refreshing digestive-probiotic smoothie, you simply assemble:
2-3 Cups of whole yogurt
1 garlic clove
2 Tbs. fresh green herbs such as dill, mint, parsley, etc… (I like to use 1/2 dill and 1/2 mint)
Place it all in a blender for about 20 second and enjoy 🙂
This green smoothie is definitely one that I can handle. It has the right amount of sweetness and keeps you from getting hungry for hours. Pineapple contains enzymes to assist with digestion and mint is also an excellent remedy for digestion which makes this the perfect smoothie when in need or just want to enjoy it.
1/2 cup water (or fresh apple juice)
the juice from half a lime
2Ttbsp. fresh mint
2 cups of fresh, chopped pineapple
1 banana, (fresh or frozen)
1 cup of kale or spinach
1 Tbs. flax seeds
1 handful of ice, if you use a fresh banana
I’ve got lots of dates to use up here, so I am posting my recipes with dates. Here is my favorite so far…
This is an amazing breakfast on the go, loads of energy and simple to make.
1 Cup raw milk
1 banana, frozen for 30 minutes (or not if no time)
4 dates, pitted
1 Tbs. unsalted organic peanut butter, preferably homemade
½ tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbs. chia seed, flax seeds, or other super food of choice
Blend all ingredients in a blender and enjoy
